Marvin is a renowned Kenyan gem cutter (lapidarist), and founder of Amor Gems, with over 20 years of experience. He has faceted gemstones for several top jewelry designers and companies in the US, Europe, Australia, Asia, and East Africa. He cuts gems in many styles: brilliants, step and mixed cuts in both free form and calibrated sizes.
His artistic ability and passion for precision in lapidary have fascinated many in the industry. His excellent skill has enabled Amor Gems to innovate and expand into numerous markets and achieve international recognition.
Sourcing and Community Involvement
Marvin sources the best gems that Africa has to offer; from Ethiopia to Mozambique, he travels to the deepest places in Kenya and beyond to find the finest rough gemstones.
Away from the gem cutting studio, Marvin is involved with other jewelers, designers, and cutters in uplifting and empowering mining communities. This includes teaching basic Gemology, value addition, and sorting rough.
